Battir is a village located a few kilometers southwest of Jerusalem, within the Bethlehem Governorate. It lies approximately 6.4 kilometers (horizontal distance) northwest of Bethlehem City. Battir is bordered by Beit Jala town and Al Walaja village to the east, Husan village to the west, Husan and Al Khader to the south, and the 1949 Armistice Line (the Green Line) and the separation wall to the north.
Under the Oslo Interim Agreement, Battir's lands were classified into Areas B and C. Approximately 1,610 dunums (23.7% of the village's total area) fall under Area B, where the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) is responsible for public order, while Israel retains full control over security matters. The remaining 5,185 dunums (76.3%) are classified as Area C.
The Battir outline plan was submitted in August 2024 and modified after discussions in Aprile 2015, until today no indicator for its approval. In addition to the outline plan the IPCC has been working with Battir community and municipality to develop a sustainable Plan for Battir , this plan was finalized and published in 2020.
