IPCC with the support of “Custody of the Holy Land” is preparing a detailed plan for Beit Faji project which is located north east the old city of Shayyah, and it is owned by the Franciscan church. The site is characterized by the presence of an archaeological site, caves and grove of cypress and pine trees, and the site also includes a church and a printing press and the housing for the community comprising 56 residential units, with a population of an estimated 224 people.
The site lacks health and educational facilities, and it has a problem of classifying it as a heritage site, and the grove is classified as a green area “owned by institution” which makes it also hard to plan, for this the owners of project with IPCC initiated preparing a detailed plan which includes bed and breakfast rooms, addition of new housing units on existing buildings, replace the existing printing press with new buildings and move it to the suggested modern developed area.
