The issue of Jerusalem lies at the heart of the Arab-Israeli conflict, making its future one of the most complex topics in any potential negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis. Numerous geo-political and administrative solutions have been proposed to reconcile the conflicting interests of both sides, but no comprehensive acceptable model has been found. This study reviews various proposals, models, and arrangements—ranging from international, Israeli, and Palestinian perspectives—to explore potential political, urban, and economic solutions for Jerusalem. Over the past century, many proposals aimed to legitimize Zionist claims to the city, often rejected by Palestinians and Arabs, while Israeli actions on the ground transformed these plans into political realities, consolidating control and establishing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital despite international objections.
