The International Peace and Cooperation Center (IPCC) collaborated with local communities over two years (2018-2019) to develop comprehensive neighborhood profiles for East Jerusalem. These profiles offer a comprehensive overview of each neighborhood, beginning with background information on their historical context, geography, boundaries, and urban significance, supported by detailed maps. It analyzes socio-economic factors, including population demographics, building conditions, public facilities (education, healthcare, worship, cultural, sports, and green spaces), economic activity, road networks, public transportation, and infrastructure gaps. The profile reviews the planning status, assessing approved plans and their impacts, while highlighting micro-level conflict challenges caused by Israeli policies, land laws, and settler activities. It identifies potential land for development and revitalization, examines land ownership dynamics, and concludes with a planning needs program to address neighborhood-specific and city-level development priorities.
