As part of the project THINK, PLAN and ACT: Building Capacity of Palestinian Youth to Support Planning, IPCC organised two training workshops titled THINK, PLAN and Make a Difference: Building Capacity of Palestinian Youth to Support Planning in cooperation with MEPI. The first was from 19-20 December 2015 with 23 participants, and the second was from 26-27 December 2015 with 27 participants who were students from different disciplines (urban planning, environmental engineer, law etc.). In addition to the IPCC team, expert engineers, planners and lawyers conducted the necessary training.
The two workshops were held in Jericho Resort Village and spanned two days and with an average of 16 training hours.
The first day discussed the following themes:
- Reality of urban planning in Palestine
- Concept, components and recent theories of planning in Area C and East Jerusalem
The second day themes included:
- Environmental agriculture
- Management of environmental and natural resources during the planning process
- Land ownership and its importance in the planning process
During the two days participants were divided into groups and completed practical training to gain planning experience. They also sign a commitment paper to participate in future initiatives to ensure the ongoing impact of the training.
